Authentication Setup and Virtual Users

  • add authentication to your setup

  • install a sasl implementation (look at dovecot)

    • first use your already added local users

    • then bind your sasl authentication to your existing LDAP. (optional)

  • try again sending an email via your second host to a user on the first host using authentication

  • use an email client (MUA) like thunderbird for sending emails

  • add an fantasy domain (e.g. supertollermistudent.de) to your DNS Setup and let its mx record point to your mail server

  • add that domain to your mail setup

  • now configure email addresses within this domain

    • define these virtual email addresses in /etc/postfix/virtual

    • configure a virtual email address pointing to your local user

    • configure a virtual email address pointing to your own HdM mail account.

      Tip

Read about postmap and set your local resolver (resolv.conf) to your own DNS
